My seemingly useless knowledge…
…sometimes isn’t so useless!
I was watching Family Feud earlier with my family and they were doing that $20,000 challenge where they answer a series of questions in less than 30 seconds. Well, one of the questions was to name a war that lasted a long time.
So I responded with the Hundred Years War because it lasted like 116 years. (Note: my typical problem with the show is that it doesn’t matter if it’s a good answer, you’re trying to guess what other people have guessed. It’s annoying.)
Anyhowww, the first chick gave some answer I didn’t care about, but my family was like, “what the hell war are you talking about? Never heard of it”. Well yeah, it happened in the 14-15th centuries, so it would sound like I made it up. The second guy, though, guessed it and we all started yelling excitedly, mostly because someone else managed to guess it.
The guess was worth 28 pts, which means that, of the people polled, that’s how many people answered. Needless to say, I felt successful.
I should just go on random trivia shows and Antiques Roadshow. It just might be my calling.
